I almost didn't post this. LinkedIn shows about three lines before "… more". Everything after that has to earn the click. So put the hook first: • say the result • skip the warm-up • make line 3 a reason to keep reading Paste your draft here and watch where the fold lands.

The whole post shows without "… more".

How to format a LinkedIn post

  1. Step 1

    Write or paste

Drop your draft into the editor. The preview updates as you type.

  2. Step 2

    Select and style

Select a word or a line, then pick bold, italic, a list or another style. Ctrl/Cmd+B and +I work too.

  3. Step 3

    Copy to LinkedIn

Press Copy post and paste it into LinkedIn. The styles travel with the text.

Why the "… more" line matters

In the feed, LinkedIn shows the first few lines of a post and hides the rest behind "… more". Most readers decide from those lines whether to open it. Postfold measures your text at feed width, on desktop and on mobile, and tells you how many characters make the cut, so you can move the point of the post above the fold.

Format inside LinkedIn

A Chrome extension that adds these buttons to LinkedIn's own post box is on its way.

Questions

Is Postfold free?

Your first 5 formats are free. After that, a one-time payment of $3 unlocks Postfold for good in that browser. There is no account and no subscription. The preview, the character counter and copying stay free.

How does bold text work on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn posts don't support rich text. Postfold swaps your letters for Unicode look-alike characters from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, which LinkedIn shows as bold, italic, script or monospace. Underline and strikethrough add a combining line to each character.

Can everyone read styled text?

Most people see it fine. Screen readers may read styled letters one by one or skip them, and search may not match them. Use styles for a few words, like the hook or a heading, rather than a whole post.

Where does LinkedIn cut my post with "… more"?

In the feed LinkedIn shows about three lines of a post, then "… more". Postfold measures your text at feed width on desktop and on mobile, so you can see what makes the cut. Screen sizes and fonts vary, so treat it as a close guide.

How long can a LinkedIn post be?

Up to 3,000 characters. The counter under the editor turns red when you go over.

Does Postfold store my posts?

No. Your text stays in your browser and is never sent to our server. We only keep a random ID to remember whether you've unlocked.
