I almost didn't post this. LinkedIn shows about three lines before "… more". Everything after that has to earn the click. So put the hook first: β€’ say the result β€’ skip the warm-up β€’ make line 3 a reason to keep reading Paste your draft here and watch where the fold lands.

The whole post shows without "… more".

What you can do in the editor

  • Style a selection: bold, italic, bold italic, underline, strikethrough, serif bold, script or monospace.
  • Select a few lines and press β€’ List or 1. List to add bullets or numbers. Press it again to take them off.
  • Use Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I and Ctrl+U (Cmd on a Mac) for bold, italic and underline. Ctrl+Z undoes a style like any other edit.
  • Press Clear to turn a selection back into plain text. It doesn't use up a free format.
  • Watch the counter under the editor: it shows your length against LinkedIn's 3,000-character limit and turns red past it.

Lists and line breaks on LinkedIn

LinkedIn's post box has no list button. The bullets and numbers Postfold adds are typed characters, a "β€’" or "1." followed by a space, so they paste into LinkedIn exactly as you see them, and so do your line breaks. Short paragraphs with space between them read better in the feed than one dense block, especially on a phone.

Edit the opening for the fold

While you write, the feed preview counts how many characters appear before "… more". Rework the first lines until the reason to keep reading sits above it, then flip the preview to Mobile, where fewer words fit, and check again.

Your draft stays on your device

Postfold formats everything in your browser and never sends your text to our server. It also doesn't save drafts: refresh or close the tab and the text is gone, so copy a long post somewhere safe before you leave the page.

Questions

How do I get my post from Postfold into LinkedIn?

Press Copy post, open LinkedIn, click Start a post, and paste with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). Styles, lists and line breaks come along because they're all plain characters.

Can I undo a style?

Yes. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) straight after, apply the same style to the same text again to switch it off, or select the text and press Clear to make it plain.

Can Postfold publish or schedule the post for me?

No. Postfold only formats and previews, and it never touches your LinkedIn account. The link under the preview leads to Skedlark, the scheduler made by the same team.
